Digital Marketing is the future, how do we navigate that space effectively and achieve results? There are many gurus out there that spew out a bunch of theories and ideas, even the secret sauce that will change the game for you.
The reality is that it is much less glamorous and just like success in any other aspect you need to stay disciplined and focus on both strategic and operational planning and execution to truly move forward with not just good results, but instead exceptional and consistent results. Here are three strategies to keep in mind during your next marketing meeting.
Define Your Position
Understanding your role and position in the digital space is vital. Whether you are a small business, medical practice, or marketing professional- understanding your (or your client’s) position in the industry is vital. Is the client a brick-and-mortar business that is looking for in-person visits or are you an e-commerce business looking to increase exposure and conversion? Regardless, by taking the time to determine your position you will find a clearer path forward, waste less money and achieve greater results.
Aim for Positive Experiences

As a UX Designer, I spend the majority of my day putting on the hat of the consumer and understanding what pain points they may or may not have and how to simplify the experience. This is an important step in achieving success in digital marketing. In tandem, you need to consider the customer journey and digital funnel that your leads find themselves in and determine if they are positive or negative. This can be accomplished by utilizing Google Surveys or simply finding peers that would be willing to give it a whirl. Overall, make sure that the customer experience is positive.
Stay On Brand
Equally important to the aforementioned strategies is brand positioning. Brand positioning is the portrayed brand in the eyes of the public. By positioning a brand with strong strategies, high-quality content, and authenticity you will have everything in place to provide a positive experience within your niche. You can’t stop there, it is not enough to simply have an effective brand and a good sounding position, instead, the brand needs to be implemented with consistency throughout every aspect of the web. When I say every aspect of the digital presence I mean it, if you are not ready to have it shown in that area or you and your team are being spread too thin, just stop. Don’t put up half-&$$ content and expect that to be “better than if there was nothing.” Instead, put the quality into what you can and build from there.
Recap
By understanding your position, aiming for positive experiences, and staying on-brand you will see the results come forward almost like the sun breaking through on a foggy day. Suddenly, you look up and realize the fog is burned off and you see and feel the radiance of success.
